"Let them eat cake"
My name is Katie Cave Hedgepeth and I love cake. I'm a University of Memphis grad (2013) with a Bachelors degree in Child Development and a minor in Sociology. I married my husband Matt in June of 2011 at the ripe age of 20. In January 2015 I became a stay at home mom to our sweet daughter, Presley. Then in 2017 we welcomed our spunky son, Leo, into the world. Finally, in 2020 we met our smiley little Oliver.
Never in my wildest dreams did I ever think that I would make and sell cakes, but God really had a sense of humor because here I am! I was watching Ace of Cakes one day after school in October 2009 (Freshman year of college) and I suddenly had an urge to make a cake using fondant. They made it look so easy on the show. So I watched some YouTube videos, went to Walmart (without my wallet), retrieved my method of payment, and managed to spend over $100 on random baking supplies (I don't know about you, but that's a lot of money to spend on something when you have absolutely no idea what you're doing). After hours and hours of sweating and wondering why I was doing what I was doing, my first cake (a Halloween cake) was born. I put it on Facebook and almost immediately started getting calls from people wanting cakes. At first I was like: "Guys, y'all have me all wrong." It was never something I had ever considered doing...especially as a job. I thought long and hard about it and decided to attend a few cake classes. I learned a lot of techniques and things that I hadn't figured out on my own before. Once I got the hang of it I had so much fun. I've always loved creating and I love cake! Who wouldn't want this job? All that to say, God has blessed me with a ton of business that I never expected. The best thing is seeing the face of an adorable little girl seeing her birthday cake for the first time. It makes me love what I do that much more. If you ever need a cupcakes, I'd love to make some for you!! Feel free to ask me any questions you may have and thank you for taking the time to look at my website!

*I will leave my website up for when I re-open in the future, but for now I am taking an indefinitely break from baking to enjoy my little family. Thank you for all of the love and support over the years!
